In October 2006 the Federal Government passed a regulation regarding occupational noise exposure for railroad employees. This regulation created a timeline that outlines the key dates by which standards referred to must be met. To view the list of known dates pertaining to the entire regulation, click here.
Regulatory Dates
All regulatory dates apply to railroads with less than 400,000 annual employee hours, or roughly 200 employees. These figures generally correspond to Class III railroads. Noise monitoring is a mandatory requirement of Part 227. The other deadlines and requirements are necessary only when employee noise exposures are at or above certain levels. Please see the full text of the regulation or contact TOMC at (904) 425-9708 for more information on exposure levels and requirements.
